John McCain's C-PAC speech was a preview of what McCain intends to run on until he shifts to "moderate" when the general election comes. McCain trotted out the ol’ favorite GOP hits: Taxes, Abortion, War, and my favorite perceptive liberty. The message of perceptive liberty is that you're on your own despite the fact humans are constantly incorporating ourselves from family to neighborhood and progressively on to city, state, and nation because it's intuitive for humans to realize that we're stronger together then divided.

McCain made a nutty promise. He said, "I will not sign any bill with earmarks." That's just crazy talk. Our form of government separates the executive, legislative, and judiciary for a reason. This claim would require first that the money would be taken out of politics on day one; McCain knows that's why the earmarks are there. The point also must be made that members of congress have been sent to Washington to please their constituents. So McCain made a dubious promise, and he didn't tell the folks what must happen first to get to the point where the legislative process totally changes to where the Executive Branch can dictate to the democratically elected Congress. Why even have a Congress in a McCain Administration?

The fact is that the Conservatives aren't going to forgive McCain even if he promises a Philosopher-Kingdom.

This last Tuesday, Democrats turned out 14.6 million voters to the GOP's 9 million voters.

Demographics in action.

Romney is out. This is all getting too nice.

HBO canceled Inside the NFL? What in the world? ItNFL and NFL Match-up on ESPN were the only NFL shows worth watching. I think the NFL Network wants to keep their beautiful NFL Films to themselves. They still can't have my $3.50

Shorter "Super Tuesday" Review:

If Ann Coulter is this pissed off today, something good must have happened yesterday. That's all I know.

Rarely is it the case that you find a post Super Tuesday analysis made with such care, intelligence, and kindness. I found this gem of a report from something called Ombre Rose from Michelle Malkin.com

I know way too much about her - I even know what they knew about Janet Reno before they ever hired her and let her fire all the Prosecutors at the Justice Dept.

If I don’t know it, now, it must be because I have forgotten it.

But I want to tell you something.

The worst thing that can happen to you is SOMETHING THAT YOU YOURSELF SANCTION WITH YOUR OWN MOUTH!

YOUR ENEMY HASN’T GOT NEAR AS MUCH POWER OVER YOU IF YOU WATCH WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT IT.

The ROARING lion is a TOOTHLESS LION that cannot hurt you unless you run away from it INTO the MOUTH of the YOUNG STRONG SILENT LION.
If you do not run, you can bop the old toothless lion on the nose and make him cry!

If McCain the evil son of satan is so electable, he will get there without me or anyone else who has determined NOT to support him - because who ever declared him “ELECTABLE” in the first place KNEW WHAT THE CROWD WHO REFUSED TO VOTE FOR GERALD FORD AND ROBERT DOLE WOULD DO WITH THE LIKES OF THIS CRITTER!

They never counted on us - THEY ARE COUNTING ON INDEPENDENTS - they say so every day.

I SAY NO!

Like I said - I have been through enough to know what of I speak.

I do not need McCain!

LEAST of all do I need HIM to save ME from Hillary, Bill, or Obama, or anyone else at the Dim Party.

He wouldn’t be capable of saving me from them - HE would be the one bringing them down on MY THROAT.

You DO remember the Gang of 14, don’t you!

Go spend time between now and then helping out at a battered women’s shelter.

Get a spine.

The fate of “losing your home, finances, and maybe having your children taken from you, not having a career, job skills, or a job or a babysitter”, etc etc, is terrifying to women living with a murderous wife-beater.

Then finally, someone gets them out of it long enough for them to realize there is STILL OXYGEN in the room, after they stop crying HYSTERICALLY that they have to go home and have supper on the table when he gets there.

And many of them soon realize, THERE IS WONDERFUL LIFE - NOT TERRIFYING NIGHTMARES - after leaving an abusive and murderous relationship.

JUST LIKE THE GOP!

Go try to scare someone who you can intimidate.

I still remember the first incredible time I found out someone was really terrified of me, when I squared back my shoulders, stretched to my full height of 5′2″ tall, took a deep breath, smiled all the way to my eyes, and enjoyed a nice visit, and they told me it was the very first time they ever saw me that I was not acting like I owed everyone an apology for breathing their air. Afterwards, they ran from me.
Go figure - turned out INTIMIDATION was their game, and I hadn’t recognized it, JUST FELT it.

IT DOES NOT WORK ON ME ANYMORE!

And I was never abused. Haven’t figured out why I was so scared of folks, back then. And didn’t even know it, til I QUIT .

But I spent a lot of time, afterwards, with some beautiful ladies who had been for 20 years or so, before they finally HAD to leave. I spent time with them in every end of it, some when folks were trying to get them out and they would not go - some of the time when dreadful things hapened BECAUSE THEY STAYED BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
Some of the time, later, when they found out how nice it was to have a home of their own and peace at the table and in bed, and not be scared every time they heard a slight rustling sound.

I remember a time when someone THOUGHT they were going to atack me, and I found out I WAS TOUGH ENOUGH! HAH!
And then someone ELSE was the one scared. NOT ME!

And if you think that I can be intimidated by NAMECALLING etc from the GOP, HAH! SO LOL!

Then you didn’t meet Christians, you met IMITATIONS who were only DOORMATS.

Humble does not mean SPINELESS and cowering before MEN.

God said MOSES was the most humble man He had ever known.

Go find out how scared of KORAH that Moses was - Numbers 16.
Boy, did Korah roar loud!

If the GOP is so glad to get rid of us VOTERS OF CONSCIENCE, then why do the GOP, the “CONSERVATIVE” media, and John McCain, and Huckleberry ALL talk to us like abusive husbands talking to wives who “BETTER GET THAT SUPPER ON THE TABLE BY THE TIME HE GETS HOME, OR ELSE!”

Because I already KNOW what “OR ELSE” really IS!

hehehehehehehe

hahahahahaha

Now that's just common sense. I have no idea how Romney could lose.

I do know this, on the issues of torture, supply side economics, global warming, immigration and campaign finance reform, there is a new day. The Gang of Fourteen is most definitely in the hizzy. When the GOP candidate for the first time since Eisenhower is willing to compromise on every issue and capitulate on many key attitudes toward the world and policy in favor of the Democrats, it's a beautiful day.

I didn't think the GOP would really nominate McCain, slay their platform, and turn off 1/3 of their voters. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am from a policy wonk perspective. This is a great day for Progressives. This is what the people want: To meet in the middle, conduct foreign affairs with some class, work on the environment to stop global warming and make jobs, keep the government out of our personal business, and in short stop politicians from taking unmalleable positions where there is no room for compromise, and therefore, no room for action. Tuesday was the GOP throwing in a big towel, stating that they're ready to come to the table with the Democratic agenda. They know that demographically they're down for the count. The rifts in the factions are huge. The Evangelicals don't believe that Wall Street has the poor in mind after eight years, and they won't hold their noses anymore.

If McCain tries to move right during the general election, he'll lose the independents he needs to win. If McCain moves to be more open about his positions too much, the rest of the base will leave him. It will be very hard for McCain to win, but his campaign will be a boon for the next Democratic President's political capital. McCain will have little money and the month-to-month changes in Iraq, plus the wear and tear on a seventy year old will cause gaffes, and his long career of having to vote on bills other people write, (the reason it's so hard to get elected president from the Senate is the manipulation of the Senators voting record in ads), will make it really hard for McCain to beat Obama or Clinton.

So today is a great day. The GOP moves left, towards the center.

The current crop of GOP pundits and think tank "philosophers" are overly concerned about maintaining their perception of philosophical purity. Paramount to their philosophy is that elites should be running the state; transitionally it becomes corporations running the state. The key to maintaining this status of a state that doesn't progress, ensures the status quo, and feeds their organic determinative trait, retention of power. Like a living thing must survive by first obtaining and/or adapting to their environment by maintaining a regular system that they can depend on for existence. The elites job is to remain the elite. The point is the device by which few control how the resources of the many is gaming the political system of election in the state, rigging the legislative process, and attempting to stay in power by any means necessary. The candidate of the elites has become Mitt Romney. Actually McCain is doing a favor for the GOP because coming to grips with the people's views on torture, the environment, immigration, and ethics will be on the only thing that might make the GOP relevant until they fracture and die off. The GOP you and I know will be gone in twenty years.

In this American system the elite use self-implanted loopholes in law, a society that is marketed to a point of complacency and ignorance about the details of policy, and the fact that they can buy unethical gate keepers who are attempting at all times to retain power.

Allowing legislators the freedom from constantly having to raise money, to constantly have to schmooze and bullshit, with, as much transparency as possible, will encourage a totally different quality of people in politics.

Transparency and reducing the influence of money to the minutest possible point isn't enough. Democracy requires better and more education for the people. From Kindergarten to the 12th grade our kids should have the best education about real politics and real issues in the world. In a global economy, wouldn't it be great to have a strategic edge of a people that can't be bullshited? Politics must be remade. The animals that thrived in a politics for profit system will go the way of the Dodo Bird. To be replaced by people who know how to create quality legislation and communicate that back to an engaged electorate. Have a system where adults are given credits to disperse amongst the candidates of their choice within a well-regulated system. Everyone has the same amount of credits. Everyone has an equal amount of influence. Imagine what new political species might thrive in a more democratic America.

You try new ideas. You take the best ideas of states like Arizona and nations like the UK. You set aside that which does not work.

Obama is so skillfully and articulately speaking for change in a very non-threatening way, Obama and McCain will match the civility of the gang of fourteen, I hope. Obama's sense and touch encourages comity and progress. We can hope now, that's a good sign.

On Tuesday, vote Barack Obama. It looks like McCain will get the GOP nomination and if so, for the first time in my life, my primary issue, Campaign Finance/Ethics/Lobby Reform will be taken off the table of contention between the two major candidates for President.

Hillary, I fear, says the things she has to say about ethics, but is not driven to clean up the system. The problem with our government is that legislation is written by lobbyists and concentrated interest control which laws are executed and which are ignored. For a Democratic Republic to exist not just in the "meta", the power must come from and be suited to the people's mass interests within agreed framework of the Constitution and arguments therein about the parameters of that framework should be settled by the courts.

Legislators, using their staffs, need to write legislation. The choices about which issues take priority with regard to executing the law need to be made in an environment free of concentrated interests.

The Environmental Protection Agency doesn't need Chevron to write the laws and former employees of Shell to execute them. The EPA needs scientists and employees who seek to protect the environment. As it stands now, we are government by corporate lobbyist. People who go into politics to get rich, need to fuck off.

There are many devices and solutions to re-instating small "d" democratic ethical values back into the system. We need a President who seeks to push a strong reform agenda, not just a candidate who'll pay lip service to the ideas, and give up when the push back comes.

Barack Obama should have the political capital necessary to clean up how laws are made and executed, so that subsequently quality legislation can be created and implemented. McCain shares this goal, this goal of a political system where money isn't the primary pre-occupation of lawmakers, a system devoid of revolving doors from public service to corporate service and back again. Having two candidates who agree in principle, one a Democrat and one a Republican, will be an amazing and important achievement.

Campaign Finance is not a panacea. It is time to try something totally different, we could always return to our current plutocratic malaise, but we really should stop calling ourselves a democracy when the consent of the people never reaches the heights necessary to be acclaimed as "democratic".
